Diálogo realista
Patient: Hello. I have a quick question before we get started.
Staff member: Of course. Tell me what’s happening and we’ll take it from there.
Patient: Could we go over the details for describir síntomas?
Staff member: Okay. The first thing we should look at is the allergy.
Patient: That part is clear. My question is really about the prescription.
Staff member: Of course. The easiest way to think about it is that the prescription comes before the instruction.
Patient: I want to make sure I’ve got the details right before I continue.
Staff member: Exactly. After that, we’ll record the clinic and you’ll receive confirmation.
Patient: Just to confirm, we’re talking about describir síntomas.
Staff member: The only thing to watch is the fever, because that can affect the timing.
Patient: That helps. Should I keep the symptom available for the next step?
Staff member: Yes, keep it handy. Someone may ask you to confirm it later.
Patient: How often should I take it?
Staff member: Sure. The cough is simpler than it sounds; there are only two things to remember.
Patient: Perfect. I’m trying to focus on the key information instead of translating every word.
Staff member: Exactly. You don’t need every word. Focus on the emergency and any instruction that follows it.
Patient: Could you repeat the instructions, please?
Staff member: If you need to follow up, refer to the insurance so the next person can see the history.
Patient: One last check: there’s no change to the test, right?
Staff member: Yes, the test is unchanged. You’re all set.
Patient: Could you also show me where the swelling appears? I want to recognise it next time.
Staff member: Yes. Think of “swelling” as a keyword that tells you what information the other person needs. Once you hear it, respond with the relevant detail rather than a full explanation.
Patient: That’s much clearer now. I appreciate your time.
Staff member: You’re welcome. Have a good day.
✕ I have a doubt about this.
✓ I have a question about this.
“I have a question” es la opción natural para introducir una consulta concreta.
✕ Can you repeat me that?
✓ Could you repeat that, please?
Con repeat, lo natural es usar directamente el objeto: “repeat that” o “say that again”.
✕ I want that you check it.
✓ I’d like you to check it.
Evitá copiar estructuras del español. En inglés cambian tanto la construcción como el registro de cortesía.
✕ Tell me the allergy.
