What have you been up to lately?
I’m afraid I can’t make it.
Just to confirm, we’re talking about bromear.
I’m only joking.
You won’t believe what happened next.
We should do this again sometime.
What about you?
Could we go over the details for bromear?
I’d rather check now than make a mistake later.
Is there anything else I need to bring or prepare?
What happens if that changes?
Could you walk me through that step?
What would you recommend in this situation?
Diálogo realista
Alex: Good morning. I’m here to sort out something and I want to make sure I explain it clearly.
Jamie: Sure. What would you like to check first?
Alex: What have you been up to lately?
Jamie: Right. Let’s start with the topic, because that usually determines the next step.
Alex: That part is clear. My question is really about the story.
Jamie: Sure. In this case, the story depends on the sport.
Alex: Let me repeat that back to make sure I understood you correctly.
Jamie: Exactly. After that, we’ll record the moment and you’ll receive confirmation.
Alex: I’m afraid I can’t make it.
Jamie: That’s a good question. If the hobby changes, let us know as soon as possible.
Alex: Got it. I also have the message with me in case you need it.
Jamie: Yes, keep it handy. Someone may ask you to confirm it later.
Alex: Just to confirm, we’re talking about bromear.
Jamie: Absolutely. Let’s go through the compliment slowly so you know exactly what it means.
Alex: That’s helpful. I understand the general idea; I just want to avoid missing one important detail.
Jamie: That’s a good approach. Listen for the joke, the time or number, and the action you need to take.
Alex: I’m only joking.
Jamie: If you need to follow up, refer to the reaction so the next person can see the history.
Alex: One last check: there’s no change to the weekend, right?
Jamie: Yes. Nothing else changes there.
Alex: Could you also show me where the kind appears? I want to recognise it next time.
Jamie: Of course. You’ll usually hear “kind” together with a date, number or next action. If you miss it, ask the person to repeat that specific part.
Alex: That’s much clearer now. I appreciate your time.
Jamie: You’re welcome. I’m glad we could sort it out.
“Just to confirm…” y “So, if I understood correctly…” son recursos normales en inglés profesional y cotidiano.
✕ I have a doubt about this.
✓ I have a question about this.
“I have a question” es la opción natural para introducir una consulta concreta.
✕ Can you repeat me that?
✓ Could you repeat that, please?
Con repeat, lo natural es usar directamente el objeto: “repeat that” o “say that again”.
✕ I want that you check it.
✓ I’d like you to check it.
Evitá copiar estructuras del español. En inglés cambian tanto la construcción como el registro de cortesía.
✕ Tell me the topic.
✓ Could you tell me about the topic, please?
Agregar could y please hace que un pedido de información suene mucho más natural.
