Could you write that down for me?

Diálogo realista
Student: Hi, I was hoping you could help me with something.
Teacher: Of course. Tell me what’s happening and we’ll take it from there.
Student: Could you explain that one more time?
Teacher: Okay. The first thing we should look at is the deadline.
Student: That part is clear. My question is really about the result.
Teacher: Of course. The easiest way to think about it is that the result comes before the course.
Student: Could I check one thing? I don’t want to misunderstand the timing.
Teacher: Correct. The presentation is the final detail we need before moving ahead.
Student: Just to confirm, we’re talking about rendir un examen.
Teacher: The only thing to watch is the feedback, because that can affect the timing.
Student: Okay. I brought the reading too, because I wasn’t sure whether it was required.
Teacher: That would be useful. You may not need it now, but it can save time later.
Student: I’m not sure I understood the instructions.
Teacher: Absolutely. Let’s go through the notes slowly so you know exactly what it means.
Student: Thanks. The vocabulary is actually easier when I can connect it to the situation.
Teacher: Exactly. You don’t need every word. Focus on the library and any instruction that follows it.
Student: When will the results be available?
Teacher: For a follow-up, keep the requirement somewhere easy to find.
Student: Before I go, can I confirm the instructions as well?
Teacher: Yes. Nothing else changes there.
Student: Before we finish, could you give me one example using “question” so I know I understood it?
Teacher: Sure. In this context, “question” is the detail people usually mention when they confirm the arrangement. You don’t need a long answer; a short confirmation is enough.
Student: Perfect. That answers my questions. Thanks for explaining it so clearly.
Teacher: Of course. Good luck with everything.
“Just to confirm…” y “So, if I understood correctly…” son recursos normales en inglés profesional y cotidiano.
✕ I have a doubt about this.
✓ I have a question about this.
“I have a question” es la opción natural para introducir una consulta concreta.
✕ Can you repeat me that?
✓ Could you repeat that, please?
Con repeat, lo natural es usar directamente el objeto: “repeat that” o “say that again”.
✕ I need that you explain it.
✓ Could you confirm it for me?
Evitá copiar estructuras del español. En inglés cambian tanto la construcción como el registro de cortesía.
✕ Tell me the deadline.
✓ Could you tell me about the deadline, please?
Agregar could y please hace que un pedido de información suene mucho más natural.
