What would success look like?
Just to confirm, we’re talking about negociar.
Let’s summarise the action items.
What would be the best next step?
I’ll follow up by email.
Could we go through the agenda?
Could we agree on the next step?
Let me address that concern.
Is there anything else I need to bring or prepare?
I’d rather check now than make a mistake later.
That works for me. What should I do next?
Could you write that down for me?
Thanks — that was the part I wasn’t sure about.
Diálogo realista
Alex: Hi, I was hoping you could help me with something.
Jordan: Sure. What would you like to check first?
Alex: What would success look like?
Jordan: Okay. The first thing we should look at is the proposal.
Alex: I have that. I’m less certain about the stakeholder.
Jordan: Yes. We normally confirm the stakeholder and then update the forecast.
Alex: So, just to confirm, that means there is one more step after this, right?
Jordan: Correct. The client is the final detail we need before moving ahead.
Alex: Just to confirm, we’re talking about negociar.
Jordan: It depends on the scope. If that stays the same, the process is straightforward.
Alex: Got it. I also have the solution with me in case you need it.
Jordan: Yes, keep it handy. Someone may ask you to confirm it later.
Alex: Let’s summarise the action items.
Jordan: Sure. The negotiation is simpler than it sounds; there are only two things to remember.
Alex: Perfect. I’m trying to focus on the key information instead of translating every word.
Jordan: Exactly. You don’t need every word. Focus on the objection and any instruction that follows it.
Alex: What would be the best next step?
Jordan: For a follow-up, keep the timeline somewhere easy to find.
Alex: One last check: there’s no change to the action item, right?
Jordan: Yes. Nothing else changes there.
Alex: Before we finish, could you give me one example using “need” so I know I understood it?
Jordan: Sure. In this context, “need” is the detail people usually mention when they confirm the arrangement. You don’t need a long answer; a short confirmation is enough.
Alex: Excellent. I’ll follow those steps and get back in touch if anything changes.
Jordan: No problem at all. Take care.
✕ I have a doubt about this.
✓ I have a question about this.
“I have a question” es la opción natural para introducir una consulta concreta.
✕ Can you repeat me that?
✓ Could you repeat that, please?
Con repeat, lo natural es usar directamente el objeto: “repeat that” o “say that again”.
✕ I need that you confirm it.
✓ I need you to explain it.
Evitá copiar estructuras del español. En inglés cambian tanto la construcción como el registro de cortesía.
✕ Tell me the proposal.
✓ Could you tell me about the proposal, please?
Agregar could y please hace que un pedido de información suene mucho más natural.
